Ajith’s movie Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, is doing well in Tamil. While regular audiences gave mixed reviews, Ajith’s fans really liked it. Meanwhile, the film has run into a legal issue.
Music legend Ilaiyaraaja has sent a legal notice to the filmmakers. He says they used three of his songs in the film without asking him or paying royalty.
However, the producers, Mythri Movie Makers, say they haven’t broken any rules. Producer Naveen said in an interview that they got permission from the music labels that own the rights to those songs. He added that they followed all the proper steps and got the required no-objection certificates (NOCs).
Earlier, Ilaiyaraaja stated in his notice that the songs were used without his permission, which is a violation of his copyright and moral rights.
He asked for a written apology, Rs. 5 crore as compensation, and the removal of his songs from the film.
